The Corinthians Superdraw tickets are €30 again this year, with 50%
of the proceeds going to our club. I would encourage all
members to ask for at least one ticket to sell, funds are always
welcome to continue the clubs development with coaching & equipment
our main focus this year.
Coaching begins in October
Just to keep you all updated, coaching is confirmed as
starting on 10th October. DJ O Donoghue will be taking a beginners
session that night, open to adults and juniors.
Coaching continues with an adults session for 1200-1500 rated players
on Friday 24th October with Henk De Jonge
Finally, to cater for our quickly improving & stronger juniors,
FM Alex Lopez will be commencing sessions this month also.
Further sessions will be organised every month to cater for all levels
within the club.
Club Fees
Afraid it's that time of year again, the good news is the
rate is the same as last year, with the additional option of paying a
reduced rate for the full season up front. See the About us page for details.
New Season
After those long hot summer days we now have the chess season
to keep us going!
If you are interested in playing in the Club Championship or the
Munster Leagues for
this season, please sign the sheet on the notice board in the club. The
deadline for
both is the 30th of September.
Coaching will be kicking off this season with many levels being catered
for. Email
corkchess@gmail.com with the header " Coaching". Give your
name, rating and what type of coaching you are interested in. During
the season we are looking to welcome British champion GM Stuart
Conquest, GM Simon Williams, IM Chris Baker and our own Div 1 players
FM Alex Lopez, Henk De Jonge & DJ O Donoghue amongst the
teachers for this season.
We also intend to have an international club match. Details to be
discussed but indicate if you want to be kept informed about this- Send
email with header "International club game" to corkchess@gmail.com
Help us make this web site a useful tool. Email us your games, we will
put them on the web site with a new "Junior Corner" and the clubs top
players will give you advice. Also -to all members- if you buy a chess
DVD or book, give us your opinion- we might buy it or avoid it..!
Annual General Meeting
The clubs annual general meeting will take place on Friday
5th of September.
If you have items for discussion or motions that you want included on
to the agenda then please submit in advance to either corkchess@gmail.com
or to our club secretary, Peter Doyle pjdoyle123@eircom.net

Summer season
The club will remain open, but is generally very quiet during
the summer months
with some members making arrangements for games beforehand. Also some
of the equipment will be removed for security reasons.

Colm Daly scored 5.5/6 to win the tournament with GM Gawain
Jones, Jan Sodama, Ray O'Rourke and Nelman Lagutin coming joint second.

munster champions for this year.
In a tight finish John drew with Stephen Short and Dave
Flannery lost to Henk de Jonge to give John the title on 6
points, with Stephen Short and Henk de Jonge coming joint second. The
