Blitz and the prize giving on 25th of May

The end of season blitz tournament will be on the 25th and will be followed by the prize giving for this years club championship.

Kieran O'Riordan wins Cork Club Championship

Kieran is the champion of Cork this year with a fine score of 6.5/7 Pat Twomey comes second on his own and Paul Walsh is third. The final standings are here. The prize giving will be held at the end of the blitz tournament. Watch this space for the date.

Final round draw is up

The draw for the final round is now available here these games are to be played on or before the 4th of May. If you do not contact your opponent to arrange the game, you must turn up on the final day, otherwise it's a default.

Dejan wins Cork Congress again!

A short report with some pics is available here. The masters went completely to ratings with Dejan Bojkov winning and the next four highest rated players coming joint second, Alex Lopez, Philip Short, Alex Baburin and John Donaldson. All the results are now available masters majors minors The last two live games are here.

Sixth round date for completion has been extended to 30th of March.

The draw for the sixth round is now available here these games are to be played on or before the 30th of March. If you do not contact your opponent to arrange the game, you must turn up on the final day, otherwise it's a default.

Fifth round draw is up

The draw for the fifth round is now available here these games are to be played on or before the 24th of February.

Mulcahy Cup Results 2012

The Mulcahy Cup was won by Arnaud Aoustin following a wild blitz playoff with Kieran O'Riordan and Henk de Jonge came third on his own the final standings are available here with some pics.

Coaching on the 10th of Feb

There will be a coaching session in the club on the 10th of Feb from 9pm to 10pm more info here.

Club Closed on Friday the 20th

The club will be closed next Friday, so we will be extending the date for the 4th round of the club championship games to the 3rd of February.

Cork Chess to host elite GM in February

As part of the build up to the 20th Cork congress, Elite GM Mickey Adams (2724) will be conducting a simul 16th February. Details to follow !!

Fourth round draw is up

The draw for the fourth round is now available here these games are to be played on or before the 27th of Jan (p.s. this date could change depending on the Mulcahy dates), you know the drill at this stage contact your opponent!

Christmas Blitz

Tom Healy won the blitz tourney again, Stephen Short came second and Henk de Jonge was third! The camera man was a bit under the weather (bad cold compounded by hot whiskeys), so no pics I'm afraid

But Simon beat Alex in a blitz decider for the title, Liam Murphy won the major and Craig Gill the minors with full results here

Congratulations to Alex Lopez Corks first International Master

Alex Lopez gained his final International Master Norm at the London Classic Open scoring 6.5 out of 9 in a very strong field.  This is a fantastic feat for the youngster, who can only go from strength to strength now.
